Monday 13 March is cloudy and a bit rainy. According to the Internet the fires around Viña del Mar and Valparaíso are big. Schools are closed today and yesterday evening the power shut down, so I’ve decided to go back the Santiago. After lunch I go up with the cable train to the top of the hill and climb the last bit to Cerro San Cristóbal. Here a statue of Maria is watching over the city. Good view, bit of smog. Through Parque Metropolitano de Santiago slowly downhill. On the hill is a public swimming pool, sadly it’s closed at Monday, but what a view over the city. Amazing. Further down to Av. Pedro de Valdivia Norte and more nice viewpoints.
Tuesday 14 March. Most important job for today, print the flight tickets. With the metro to end station Los Dominicos. Through the park to Iglesia de los Dominicos. Sadly the Spanish style church is closed, but next door the art shops are open. Time to find some souvenirs. By metro back to the centre, Universidad de Chile. Walk kilometres through the city to find a card shop. Nothing. And asking doesn’t help. After hours I find a (too) sweet baby card for the new born daughter of Cor and Erica. Explore the centre a bit more and have dinner at the food court.
Wednesday. From metro station Pajaritos the bus brings me to the airport. Check in at KLM for the flight of 12:45 h to Buenos Aires. At Buenos Aires there is a special transfer route. I ask the guy at the office if my luggage will be transferred to the Lufthansa flight to Europe. Of course, should go automatically. Nice. The flight to Amsterdam via Frankfurt leaves and arrives on schedule. At the belt no luggage of mine. To KLM and yes it’s still in Buenos Aires. Of course it’s not their fault, but they bring it to Amsterdam. I can get it on Schiphol. Grrr. To Lufthansa, wait awhile and then they arrange the transport form Schiphol to my home. They will call to make an appointment for delivery. The family waited an extra hour, but here I am.
Sunday I get the call and TNT will bring it Monday between 8 and 13 h. No sir, it’s not possible to give an indication of the time.
Monday at 6:50 h someone rings the bell and there my luggage is.
